Github source code development progress

NKN testnet code development progress over the last two weeks is mainly reflected in nkn , nkn-wallet-js , and tuna repositories and different branches.

The latest stable release is v0.8.2 for testnet and v0.9 for mainnet.

• Change account model from UTXO to Balance Model
• Change elliptic curve from ECDSA to Ed25519
• NKN addresses will start with NKN instead of N
• Use protobuf as blockchain data structure for better cross platform and cross version compatibility.
• Remove the existence of unused fields in transactions.

NKN reaches 10,000 nodes: Now largest public blockchain by full nodes

On April 14th 2019, NKN reached over 10,000 Nodes globally and is now the largest public blockchain in terms of full consensus nodes . In comparison to other major blockchains such as Ethereum (8,486 nodes) and Bitcoin (9,129 nodes), NKN is larger and is still in the testnet phase of development. We do expect this number to continue to grow as we prepare for mainnet release in June 2019.

Much of the success of our growth is not only due to our amazing development team who have developed a light-weight node software and highly scalable public blockchain, but a strong and vibrant community that has chosen to participate by running NKN Full Nodes. In fact, more than 98.5% of our nodes are run by the community , making the NKN network truly decentralized.

New WiFi firmware with NKN node and GUI

Our community member Allen from Shanghai did it again! Allen has ported NKN full node with wallet management GUI to a new WiFi router firmware with support for almost any MT7620 SOC based router with only 128M memory . Now it is easier than ever for users to run NKN on their WiFi router at home, paving the way for mass adoption, especially in developing countries.

nknX official explorer for Mainnet announced

The nknX.org explorer, which was developed by community members Christian Busch & Andrew Tawking, has been selected to be the official NKN explorer for mainnet (both the current v0.9 Beluga release as well as the highly anticipated v1.0 Narwhal Mainnet release in June).
