NKN Testnet v0.8.3-alpha Release

We will release a new version v0.8.3-alpha. This version fixed a timestamp bug that caused some nodes stop a few hours ago.

This is a compatible upgrade, so upgrade should be smooth. We will release a new version on github just as usual.

  • If you are using one-click on DO/AWS/Google Cloud or one-click GUI, you just need to restart your nknd or machine.
  • If you downloaded the release version, you just need to download it again https://github.com/nknorg/nkn/releases , replace your nknd and nknc and run again
  • If you build from scratch, you just need to do the build again.
  • If you are using some scripts or tutorials that has auto-updator, then it should be automatic if the auto-updator is working properly.

We will also provide a latest chain snapshot if you don’t want to sync automatically.

The old version will be deprecated to accelerate the upgrade process at some point.

You probably don’t need to download the Chain snapshot manually, but if you really need, you can use https://testnet.nkn.org/Chain_latest.zip .

To update to the new version, please stop your nknd, rebuild (or download the latest binary from https://github.com/nknorg/nkn/releases ), and then restart. If you are using the GUI miner or auto-updater, then you just need to stop and restart and miner and it will upgrade automatically.

This release is published and now the public testnet is back to normal function, producing blocks. The testnet.nkn.org needs re-sync of database, thus need some time to restore full functionality. nknx.org is reporting the correct “Network Current Block” and your mining node status. Happy testnet mining!
